How to Read Your Progress Timeline Without Fooling Yourself

4 min read

Progress reviews go sideways when you compare last week to this week. Zoom out, pick fixed reference points, and let the timeline do the work.

The most common mistake in progress review is comparing consecutive check-ins. The signal is too small and the noise — hydration, lighting, posture — is too large. You end up chasing artifacts.

Instead, pick fixed reference points: your first check-in, the start of a new phase, a personal best. Compare current to those, not to last week. The timeline is a long-range instrument.

Side-by-side beats sequential. Same pose, same angle, four to eight weeks apart. That's where real change becomes obvious and interpretation gets easier.
